please, no soliciting.
i made this sign for my front door. i don't like having solicitors (1) because most of the time i'm at home by myself, (2) they just make me uncomfortable & (3) if my boys are home, i don't want them answering the door. but, unfortunately, if the door bell rings they tend to run (along with a barking schnauzer) right to the door because they expect that it is one of their friends.
i needed something that wasn't ugly, like the ones you get from the hardware store. they have gold letting on a black background...they just look very "un-homey." so, i decided to just make one myself and this is what i came up with.
here is a closer look...
very simple to make, too. Ü

teacher appreciation 2011.
here is this year's version of my boys' teacher appreciation gift. last year i filled jars with candy. this year, my oldest son is in middle school and has many more teachers, so i decided to just do cello bags of candy (trying to watch costs Ü). anyway, this is what i came up with (last minute). i used the same saying as last year, too. why reinvent the wheel, right? it says, "you make learning sweet! thanks for being such a wonderful teacher!"
here is a closer view. i used the play date designer series paper from stampin' up.
thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful mothers' day weekend!! Ü

sketches.
i found this idea here. i love her style and what she comes up with...so cute! so, this is a little sketch booklet that i can keep by my computer or toss in my purse for when i see or think of super cute card layouts. it was very easy to make and so fun!now, i'm working on one for scrapbook page layouts. i'll post pics as soon as i get done with that one. new pillow covers.
i know this is not paper crafting related, but i just had to share my new no-sew pillow covers i made. i found the tutorial here . i love her site & she has tons of other great diy projects that i want to try. each pillow cover is made from 2 cloth napkins that i bought at cost plus world market. so, i made 6 "new" pillows for around $35! what a deal! it seems like i'm always buying new pillows because the boys in my house tend to think they're cheap & they beat each other up with them.
i was so glad i didn't have to sew because 1. i don't own a sewing machine, & 2. i don't really know how to sew...i pretty much suck at it. once, i made a pair of shorts for my home-ec project & not a week later, the seams ripped out so yeah, i don't sew. Ü Monday, April 25, 2011
